Xiaomi YU7: Xiaomi’s First Electric SUV Makes a Stunning Entry with 835 KM Range

Xiaomi YU7: Xiaomi’s YU7 Electric SUV is a luxury-packed, high-tech vehicle and the company’s second EV after the SU7 sedan.

It offers an impressive range of up to 835 km, can charge 200 km in just 5 minutes, and comes equipped with Level-3 autonomous driving technology. The interior features Nappa leather seats, a massage function, and a smart display system. With its stylish design, it is expected to give tough competition to the Tesla Model Y.

This SUV is Xiaomi’s second EV offering, following the SU7 sedan. The YU7 will be available for sale in China starting July 2025, and the company aims to launch it in international markets by 2027.

YU7 Xiaomi Variants

The YU7 is available in three variants:

• YU7: This variant features a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) system with a power output of 235 kW. It has a battery capacity of 96.3 kWh, offering a range of 835 km.
• YU7 Pro: Equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system delivering a combined power of 365 kW. It also has a 96.3 kWh battery and provides a range of 770 km.
• YU7 Max: The top-end variant comes with a dual-motor AWD system producing 508 kW of power. It features a larger 101.7 kWh battery, delivering a range of 760 km.

All variants support 800V high-voltage fast charging, enabling the car to charge 200 km of range in just 5 minutes.

Range and Performance:
The YU7 can travel up to 835 kilometers on a single charge, which is more than the Tesla Model Y. It delivers 690 PS of power, making it a high-performance SUV.

Design and Interiors:

The YU7 features a modern and attractive design with a two-tone style and sporty look. The interiors include Nappa leather seats, a 10-point massage function, and a 6.68-inch rear touchscreen.

Autonomous Driving and Technology:
The YU7 features Xiaomi’s HAD (HyperDrive) system, which includes LiDAR and 4D mmWave radars. This system is based on the Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor chip, delivering 700 TOPS of processing power.

Battery and Charging:
The YU7 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, enabling a 1.35-second boot-up and the ability to install OTA updates in just 15 minutes.

Smart Features and Connectivity

The YU7 is based on Xiaomi’s Hyper OS, which provides seamless integration with smartphones and smart home devices. It features a Panoramic Head-Up Display (PHUD) that delivers navigation, speed, and other information to the driver without distraction. All displays are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, enabling a 1.35-second boot-up and the ability to install over-the-air (OTA) updates in just 15 minutes.

Design and Dimensions

The YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Its design is inspired by the Ferrari Purosangue, featuring a sleek grille, teardrop-style LED headlights, and flush door handles. The rear has a sloping design and a ducktail spoiler, giving it a sporty look.

Interiors and Comfort

The YU7’s interiors include Nappa leather seats equipped with a 10-point massage function and a ‘zero-gravity’ 123° recline mode. The rear seats are power-adjustable with a recline of up to 135°. Interior color schemes available are Twilight Blue, Coral Orange, and Dual-tone Stone Grey with Pine Green.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The YU7 features Xiaomi’s HAD (HyperDrive) system, which includes LiDAR and 4D mmWave radars. This system is based on the Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor chip, providing 700 TOPS of processing power. It is equipped with eight HD cameras for 360° vision, five millimeter-wave radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The system supports SAE Level 3 autonomous driving and its capabilities can be enhanced in the future through OTA updates.

Price and Launch

Xiaomi has not yet made any official announcement regarding the price of the YU7. However, it is estimated that its price could be approximately 60,000–70,000 yuan higher than the Tesla Model Y. Xiaomi has announced that sales of the YU7 will begin in July 2025.

Currently, the YU7 is available only in China. However, Xiaomi plans to launch it in international markets by 2027. Considering the growing demand for electric vehicles in India, it is likely that the YU7 will also be introduced in the Indian market.
